After 18 months the bolts would not open anymore and we had to get the safe drilled open by a locksmith. The customer service can be summerized as a busy signal 99% of the time. BTW. It took the lock smith only 10 minutes to drill it open. Not very secure. He also told us that many customers have similar problems with these safes.

2.0 out of 5 stars had to have this safe replaced after 6 months., April 18, 2010

great cause you can bolt this down to the floor. but i got this one because it had a turn dial. but the dial stopped workign and the handle would not lift up. the company had a new one sent to me ( a different version, a black one)and i do feel real bad for the UPS guy who brought the safe(100 lbs about) into my house. the replacement was one that could not be bolted down, i regret not havign having one that could be bolted down. anyways i loved that this one had a little compartment that could be taken out and had its own set of keys to open. i would not recommend this safe, because the lock and handle do not work well, luckily i got very good customer service, they believed me that it was broken and told me i could dispose of the safe and only send the keys to them , and they sent me a brand new one. hey, you get what you pay for, this is a cheap one.

1.0 out of 5 stars Use a rubber mallet if door gets stuck., September 23, 2010

It won't keep a thief out, but it might keep YOU out. After ours broke, we could not even dispose of the hulk sitting in our back room. We can't risk that someone else might open it an access our old HR files and computer backups.

Update: we finally thought to google for "SentrySafe safe cracking". Turns out many people have stuck safes. The official recommendation from SentySafe appears to be "hit it with a rubber mallet, spray wd-40 in, and try again. We did, and finally managed to get the stripped and nearly useless mechanism to budge. We disassembled the lock. The construction on the mechanism is inferior consisting of a mix of pot metal held in place by plastic guides. The action goes from metal to plastic to metal and back to plastic. This is cheap made in China junk that just won't stand the test of time.

We were lucky -- the connection from the handle to the main gear was so stripped that even once we had bypassed the lock, it almost did not open. It... Read more
